Hoppy Easter

Before I share my card I want to give a big shout out to Josee Smuck for including my blog in her ‘My Crafty Friends Monday’ on her  Stampinjo.com blog yesterday.  What an honor and thrill to be recognized by others.  I’m beaming.  You can see more of Josee blog by clicking on the badge.

I am blessed with 5 small children in my life, between the ages of 6 and 1.  One niece, two nephews (see the post for a birthday card for one of my nephews from last week here) and two beautiful granddaughters, one of which this blog is named after, Avery.  I love to make holiday cards for them, and since they are all on the young side, I want them to be fun and interactive.  (See the valentine card I made for Avery and her sister Hadley early this year here).  One of my nephews lives in California so I try to mail all of them in plenty of time so the pressure was on but I hadn’t yet come up with a cool idea for Easter yet, that is until yesterday (Saturday) when I saw the winning card from The Paper Players tic tac toe challenge.

And here is the card from Dawn Tidd that inspired me. You can see her full post as well as instructions on how to create it by clicking on the picture.

I also owe thanks and credit to Connie Stewart at SimplySimpleStamping.com for the darling little bunny face on the front.  You can see her full post here.

About my card
1. Don’t be afraid to try new card shapes
. Ever get into a rut and find you are making the same card shape every time. After seeing Dawns cute kite card I realized I had been in that rut.  I also figured the kids would love a cute kite card with a bunny face on the front.

2. Use shapes in new ways.  I’m sure you can see the basic circles, ovals, even scalloped in the bunny face. But take a look at the bunny teeth.  Can you figure out what that punch is?  If you guessed the Modern Label, you would be correct.  The end of the modern label with a line down the middle for tooth definition makes great bunny teeth.

3.  No really, use shapes in new ways.  Dawn used little bows for the tail of her kite.  I don’t have a bow stamp or punch so I used my little butterfly punch as the bows for the tail.  I thought that was a really clever idea I had there.

I hope you liked my bunny kite and I hope you all have a great second week of April.
