A Holly Jolly Gnome

Is August too early to start making Holiday cards? I don’t think so, and neither does the Holly Jolly Gnome on my card today. Isn’t he just adorable? Here’s how I made this cute little guy.

Holly Jolly Gnome

I started with just a notecard size card base in Sahara sand ( 5 x 7, scored at 3-1/2). Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper has such cut designs and all are the smaller print perfect for card fronts. I chose two patterns (they happened to both be on the same paper, just different sides) and created some layers with Sahara Sand. Each panel of DSP is 4 x 2-1/2.

I stamped my Holly Jolly Gnome with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored him with Stampin’ UP! colored Pencils in Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight and White. I like to use a blender pen instead of water to blend the colored pencil. I feel it is 1) way less messy and 2) gives a much more vibrant color while still blending the stroke lines beautifully.

Final Tip: Do you see those little stitched elements behind the DSP? I cut those from the North Pole Wonder die set. The tag die has the pretty design at the bottom and I just cut off a small piece.
