Sympathy for a good neighbor

I made today’s card on behalf of my next door neighbor who passed away this week.  I won’t say we were close but I always felt safe having him next door as he was a retired Deputy Sheriff and worked on occasion for the the FBI teaching about Bomb detection and removal.  One time he came over when he heard my dog Jake barking like crazy.  Jake only barked when there was someone in his territory he didn’t think should be there.  If he knew you, he never said a word.  Anyway, Jake was going crazy because my friend had come over with her dog for me to watch for the weekend.  Doug heard it and came down the driveway to check that I was ok.  I wasn’t married at the time and he kept an eye on me.  I assured him everything was fine and he went back to his house.  It was only later that he told me he had a gun in his back waist band, just in case it wasn’t okay.  Wow, now that’s a neighbor to have.

I also CASEd this card from one of Brian Kings.  You can see his post here.  I’ve always loved Brian’s card, in fact, my monthly group has selected it as one they will be making this summer in our All Occasions Stamp-a-Stack.  I changed it up a little bit though.  What do you think?

I had never ever considered making a card out of acetate (window sheets) until I happen to be browsing through Pinterest the other day and came across several examples.  So I when I sat down to make the card for my neighbor I thought, why not try it.

I used the Deco Label framelits throughout, even on the inside.I hope you think I did Brian’s card justice today.  I do apologize that the embossing folder I used is now retired, Square Lattice, as well as the stamp set on the front which is from You’re Lovely, a Sale-a-bration set from 2014.  The inside stamp however is from Thoughts and Prayers with the sentiment from Love and Sympathy both as well as the sentiment stamp on the front from Petite Pairs are available in the current catalog.
