This past week it was Avery’s other grandmother’s birthday. My daughter asked if Avery and I could make a card for Nana and this is what we made. What is not showing in this picture are Avery’s contribution. She stamped Rose Red, Pear Pizzaz and Early Espresso tiny hearts, with the word Love in the middle, all around the whisper white inside. She is 3 1/2 and her stamping is not ‘precise’ yet so she would ink up the stamp, counting 1-2-3 taps on the ink pad, then stamp it where I pointed. At first I was only going to have Rose red and Early Espresso hearts then she said we needed green too. She was right, the Pear Pizzaz was the perfect final addition.
1. The beauty of three – I chose to do three flowers on each side of the opening because three is just a nice balanced number and the Secret Garden set has many choices for flower options.
2. A little work with the Aqua Painter – on two of the flowers I used an Aqua Painter to fill in the stamped image. The daisy flower was stamped on Natural White card stock with pretty in pink ink. Then using my aqua painter I touched it to my Strawberry Slush ink pad, touched it off a bit on my scrap paper then drew out from the center almost to the ends of the flowers. I repeated with a tiny bit of rose red. For the center I used Crushed Curry in the same way, but dotting the center of the flower and following up with a touch of pear pizzazz. For the petal flower I used a Rose red for the folds of the flower at full strength, then touched it off for a lighter shade for the petals, leaving a bit of white on each petal. A little Strawberry slush to finish the petals, and crushed curry and pear pizzazz for the center.
I hope you like my card. Nana loved it, especially with Avery’s special touches.
