Today’s card is for the Pals Paper arts color challenge with Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry and Rich Razzleberry. I have to admit, this one had me stumped for several days. I tried something with the Sunflower background stamp, no good. I tried several others, also no good. I could get two of the colors, but the third seemed to trip me up. Then I decided to use a technique I had used before and give the appearance of a sunset in the background fading to a pretty Rich Razzleberry and I pulled out my Field Flowers. Here is my card.
and the challenge that inspired it.
About the card
1. I tried so many combinations of the field flower elements until landing on using Rich Razzleberry on the stem and over stamp, and Crushed Curry as the Understamp. Here are a few of my other attempts, and some other non related practice stamps. I even had a few others on other scraps of paper now shown here. Sheesh!
2. A light touch….that’s what I used to create the shading in the background for both the Crushed Curry and the Rich Razzleberry, with some blending where they meet.
3. The Rich Razzleberry on the sentiment and the addition of three (power of three, always) Candy Dots to balance out the focus. I like texture in my cards and thought I would add ribbon or something to the Crumb Cake base but alas, I do not have any Crushed Curry or Rich Razzleberry ribbon in my ribbon drawer. I opted for the embossing folder to add depth.
I hope you like my card today. This layout can be used for really any type of occasion; birthday, thank you, sympathy. And really, once I had my colors set it came together very easily and beautifully.
Thanks for stopping by today.
Lynn

Ah! OK why have I not stamped Rich Razzleberry (one of my favs) with Crushed Curry? (another fav!) Your blotter paper looks exactly like mine Lynn! I love this card with it’s texture from the beautiful albeit retired Lacy Brocade embossing folder and this precious sentiment layer! Oh! If only I could stay home and stamp I would jump all over this color pallet. Off to a Shoe Box Swap today..must get back to this! Thanks for sharing your lovely project!
Patti you made me giggle. I say the same thing about a stamp or color combo and why I haven’t used that yet. Hehe. Enjoy your swap.
Lynn, This is truly lovely! I really like how you sponged up your sunset and then stamped the flower boldly in the forefront. Nice interpretation of the challenge!
Lynn, this card is amazing! The more I look at it, the more things I see! Love the shading, and the use of the embossing folder just adds the perfect texture. Thanks for playing with us this week at Pals Paper Arts!
