I’d like to start off this post with a huge thank you to The Paper Players for selecting my card last week as A Cut Above. You can see my card here. This is my first time on the podium, so to speak, for the Paper Players and I couldn’t be more tickled. Thank you Jaydee for selecting my card.
Now, who’s ready for Spring!! My card today just makes me happy and eager for spring. I made today’s card because of a happy leftover. On Saturday I posted a card I made with an oval cut out of Tangerine Tango. You can see that post here. So yesterday when I was looking through my stamping area I came across the tangerine cardstock I had used to cut the oval. It was a perfect half sheet of cardstock and a perfect card base. Now, how to use it.
About my card
1. In Brian King’s post (see it here) on Sunday he mentioned that his card was a just because card. Not part of a challenge or theme. My card today is the same. It was a just because card and like I said, I had this perfectly good card base just begging to be used. I had also just received the Vivid Vases stamp and it fit perfectly inside that oval. I hadn’t ordered this stamp set when the catalogue first came out thinking it was too limited and I wouldn’t use it much. Well I was wrong, as I often am. I started seeing so many examples of this stamp on the internet that definitely changed my mind. So glad I did.
2, Watercolor wonder DSP seemed a good background for my plan to watercolor the vases. I also punched out little flowers with the itty bitty punch pack from the cut out oval to accent the edges. I also used the same colors from the paper and my sponge daubers to do a little envelope decorating. Can’t have a blank envelope, now can we. And the daubers look like the circles on the paper. Cool huh.
3. To watercolor the vases I used my very favorite item, my Aqua Painter. I feel like I have so much more control with this little tool adding ink, taking away on scrap paper. My technique is to just touch the brush end directly to the ink pad. This gives me the densest color where I can take away on my scrap paper when I need less. It is also not messy as it can be if you use re-inkers and water in a cup or the stamp pad lid. Just sayin….
Thanks for stopping by today. If you would ever like to order any of the products I used in my project today just click on any of the images below to be taken directly to my Stampin’ Up! store to order.
This is absolutely beautiful, Lynn! What a perfect balance of the colors and a lovely job of water coloring.
Out of all the vase examples I’ve seen online, I like yours the best! Now I see a reason to purchase this stamp set;-)) Really love your card;-)
I love, love this card. I have been debating about getting this stamp set, and now I know I really want it and the water color designer paper. Thanks for sharing your great idea.
This is gorgeous! Love it!!
