Beauty of the Season for the Holiday Stamp a Stack

Today’s card, another we will be making in the Holiday Stamp a Stack this month, uses Beauty of the Season and is based on a card by Brandy Cox where she used foil as a background.  It was so stunning I had to include it in the stamp a stack this year. You can see her card here.

The card base is Basic Black card stock with a layer of whisper white, foil, Real Red and lastly whisper white. To make the tin foil background, I used, as did Brandy, a piece of heavy duty aluminum foil and crinkled it up, then spread it flat.  I cut the foil with my stamping trimmer to the size I needed.  As you know, foil tears easily.  I found it easier to use a larger than necessary piece of foil and crinkle it first so that in the event it did tear, I could cut around it for what I needed.Stampin Up Beauty of the Season

The cardinal was inked with the Basic Black marvelous marker and the Cherry Cobbler marker. Don’t forget to breath on it before stamping to re-wet the ink.  I then used the Cherry Cobbler marker to fill in the berries along the branches.  The Merry Christmas sentiment is again from Endless Wishes, a very versatile stamp set for the holiday season and because it is photopolymer it is so easy to place exactly where you want it.

I opted to use rhinestones as accents on my card.  I liked the sparkle it added.  You could also color them with a cherry cobbler blendability marker.

I used the branch stamp from the set for the inside, inking with tuxedo black memento ink and coloring in the red berries.  The sentiment also from the set is stamped in cherry cobbler.
