A Sale-a-Bration stamp set sneak peak – Big Day

Birthday’s abound this time of year.  It can’t all be about the Holidays.  Today’s card I made for a staff member, David, and I used images from a stamp set you can get for FREE Jan-Mar as part of the Sale-a-Bration promotion.  For every $50 you spend on products, you can select one free item from the best collection of free items I’ve ever seen.  Stamp sets like this one, new papers, embellishments sets and even any of the Blendability markers in the Annual Catalog.
Stampin Up Big Day Sale-a-Bration Averys OwleryI started this card with a piece of whisper white and the Stars Decorative Mask from Hearts and Stars.  I sponged them in with Soft Sky to keep it in the background.  The stamp set, called Big Day, has all the images you see on my card today.   Happy Birthday was stamped with black memento ink on another piece of whisper white with sponged stars as well and punched out with the Decorative Label Punch.  I colored in the word birthday using a new Wild Wasabi Blend-ability set available in the Spring Occasions catalog. I used the light marker first, then shaded with the dark marker. Now, this card would have been fine, just like that but I wanted a bit of a wow factor, so I used a small paint brush and painted on Crystal Effects.  This gave the banner and words Cake and Birthday a raised glossy look.  Best of all, since I had colored them in with Blend-abilities, they didn’t run because of the water based glue.  It isn’t as easy to see this in the picture, but trust me, it looks cool.

DStampin Up Big Day Sale-a-Bration Averys Owleryon’t forget the inside.  This set has a sentiment perfect for the inside of your birthday card.

  1. Fantastic card Lynn. So many neat details. I own but never used the stars template. I appreciate this example! The addition of the Crystal effects is perfect!
