When I first started stamping, I was always drawn to stamps with flowers. Big flowers, little flowers, 3D flowers, it didn’t matter, those were the stamp sets I would mark first in a new catalog. I like the ability to make a card or project using flowers of different colors, or all the same. Something about the organic nature of a flower fits in nicely with my style. Today’s card collection is no different. The stamp set I used, available for free with a $50 order beginning Jan 6, is called Lotus Blossom and I’m sure it will be one of the most popular stamp sets this season. Let me show you my project and then I’ll tell you about the stamp set.
The set is actually a three step stamp. Layering the color one over the top of the other provides the beautiful depth and shading for the blossom. For each card I used one ink color for the blossom, and one for the stem. I used full strength ink on the first two layers with a stamp off for the third. I think my favorite is the Blackberry Bliss in the top right. The other colors are Perfect Plum, Hello Honey and Rose Red.
I stamped each of the flowers on a whisper white notecard from Stampin Up. My initial intent was to be done at that point but then decided I wanted a standard size card so I added a single piece of card stock measuring 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 in the same color as the ink as a mat. Now, they pop. I also pulled out some Designer Series paper for envelop liners, also in coordinating colors. Lastly, I think tomorrow I’ll make a box for them to fit in as a collection. What a nice gift for spring. I’ll share the box in an upcoming post.

Beautiful! Love the colors you chose!
Beautiful is all I can say!
I sure hope that I get the same gorgeous results when I try out my stamp set later today! I just love how you added that pop of color to the card base by mounting the note card onto a coordinating piece of card stock! I can’t wait to see your set of cards all boxed up and ready to give to a very lucky person!
