January is a time for saying Thank You for all the nice gifts you received over the holidays. It’s also a new year and you can’t go wrong by making a New Year Resolution to say Thank you with a hand crafted card. Today’s card is for one of my customers, Kathy, and her mom and two sisters who came over last week for my stamping class. They also put in an order so I thought I would make a card using some of the items they purchased. I went the easy route, and CASE’d (copy and share everything) a card from the Occasions Catalog using the Painted Petals stamp set. See page 18. I was also able to pull in colors that I know Kathy has on hand in case she wants to recreate the card.
I’m on a spritzing kick lately. The Irresistibly Yours DSP is so easy to color with a spritzer, even making lighter and darker areas depending on how you spritz. If you don’t have a spritzer, another way to color paper such as this is with a brayer. Either one will give you gorgeous results. Don’t forget to wipe off the paper after inking so the embossed areas shine through.
So, Painted Petals. This stamp set is so so pretty. I stamped the leaves with Wild Wasabi first. I then inked the flowers with Daffodil Delight. Before I stamped though, I rolled the stamp onto my Tangelo Twist ink pad to pick up that color on the outsides of the flower images. The result is a two tone watercolor look that looks way harder than it really is.
The card on page 18 shows a Whisper White bakers twine with a bow. I don’t actually own any Whisper White bakers twine – I know, the shame – but crafters are very ingenious people. I used my Blushing Bride bakers twine and pulled out the pink strand. Done and Done.
Don’t forget the inside. The other image included with Painted Petals is this tall and skinny stem and bloom combo. I used the same technique for the blooms.
