As promised, today’s post is all about how to create the card base, note cards, envelopes and tag I showed in Sunday’s post. If you missed that post you can see it here.
I created this entire gift with a minimal amount of paper. That makes it very economical and able to be duplicated quite easily.
The card base I first saw on Mary Fish’s Stampin Pretty Blog, you can see her post Here. She cut her’s down so the finishedcard size was 5 1/2 x 4 but I wanted a full A4 card so the envelopes I was making would fit inside.
- Score a piece of 8 1/2 x 11 in half both directions.
- Line up the score marks on the bottom corner with the groove line of you paper trimmer and cut off the corner.
- Repeat with the other bottom corner. Save those triangles, we’ll use them later.
- Fold the pointed portion of the card stock up and then fold in half to form you card base with two inside pockets.
- To use the triangle pieces on your card you’ll need to cut them down a bit. Cut it down, cutting the straight edge sides to 3 1/2 inches x 5 inches. The angled piece should have a notch at the top. Use the new furthest point to cut a new straight angle
- Cut the DSP as shown. You will have three pieces to use for the outside and two inside panels, a belly band and two triangle pieces for the front of your cards.
- I used the Triangles from the card base as the mat for the DSP on the front. I also used it for the Butterfly framelit and the For You framelit found on the front tag.
- The diagram above shows how I cut and used the paper for the note card base and sentiments. You need only one sheet cut this way.
- I cut two sheets as above to use for the envelope as well as the tag, for you and bow cut out.

What a cute combination of clever use of paper and design. Love it.
