A Father’s Day card for the Pals Paper Arts

This weeks sketch challenge from Nicole Watt was a exactly that, a challenge.  What started out as a card with a flower and background stamp turned into a Fathers’ Day card with a train.

Stampin Up Traveler AverysOwlery.com Here is the challenge sketch.  Notice the funky peaks and valleys at the bottom.  That was the hard part, not cutting it, but incorporating it into a nice card.

After several failed attempts I opted for white embossing powder for the train image from Traveler.  I did a watercolor wash with Tip Top Taupe (TTT) for the background.  I also learned that Tip Top Taupe, Whisper White and Early Espresso look amazing together, don’t you agree?  The Happy Father’s Day stamp is an old one of mine and not from Stampin UP and works great for the one time of year I use it.  I used the passport image from Traveler stamped with TTT ink onto TTT card stock and Whisper White card stock.  I snipped both out and layered the white on one side to look like pages in the passport.

Underneath the main image, I stamped the background stamp from You’ve Got This new in June, with TTT onto my card base for some depth of color.

  1. I really like this card…..the color wash is a great background. Yes, I agree, the colors go well together. Was this done on watercolor paper? FYI, I follow you on Pinterest, Facebook and Utube. Love your creativity…..thank you for the inspiration.
