Watercolor Wings

I finally was able to play with some of my new purchases from the new catalog.  They are so beautiful. I’ve seen so many great examples for using the brick wall embossing folder and of course the Watercolor Wings stamp set and framelit bundle I just had to try my hand at it.

My card base is So Saffron with a layer of Soft Suede under the whisper white.  I first embossed the whisper white with the Brick Wall embossing folder then used sponge daubers to highlight the ridges with Sahara Sand ink.  For the butterfly I used the Watercolor Wings Stamp set.  This is actually a 3, actually 4 step stamp for two sizes of butterfly.  I used the larges stamp with So Saffron.  Stampin Up Watercolored Wings AverysOwlery.comThe second stamp colors the edges of the wings and I used Watermelon Wonder for that.  The third stamp is for the middle of the butterfly and I used Mint Macaron.  Last I stamped the body of the butterfly in Sahara Sand then again in Soft Suede.  I used the Bold Butterfly framelit to crop out the butterfly then added a few pearls finish it off.  After placing the butterfly on the brick wall I stamped the antennae of the butterfly on the wall using Soft Suede.

The Expressions Natural Elements are wooden greetings in Congrats, Thanks or Celebrate.  I sponged Soft Suede on the edges of the wooden element for some definition and attached with glue dots.  I used the water spot stamp from Awesomely Artistic on the brick wall using Sahara Sand stamped off once.

For the inside I used the fern branch from Awesomely Artistic.

  1. Beautiful, Lynn! Simple elements can make such a dramatic look.

  2. I love the way you sponged the brick with sahara sand. It adds so much more texture.
