Happy Memorial Day everyone here in the US. Today is Friday of our first long weekend of the summer season and I’m off this afternoon playing with my stamps and ink. I want to share a technique that I don’t know that I invented but I certainly like doing. Giving credit where credit is due though, I got the idea from a fellow demonstrator Julie DiMatteo from ThePaperPixie.com. Here is a link to Julie’s original card. I loved Julie’s card so much I recreated it, but with a slightly different technique.
Here is my card. And check for yourself, I copied it exactly from Julie’s.
Julie used what she called the Watercolor Smooshing technique. There is a link in her blog to a video explaining this technique. You can see that video here. Like Julie, I also loved the look, but I wasn’t thrilled with the technique to create it as it seemed it could get pretty messy. So I decided to try a slightly different way to get a similar look. AND……I created a video for you. I don’t do videos often, ok, ever, but I’m branching out by trying different things.

For my card I used Whisper White card stock but it could easily be done with Watercolor Paper, or shimmer paper and then spritzed with water for another look. We used this technique in a class I held last week and everyone loved it, I think because, actually, there is no stamping required.
Thank you all for stopping by and checking out my new technique.
Lynn
I love the look from this tech. Yours is not messy with the same out come. Thank you.
Hi Lynn, that is cool I will for sure have to try that, thanks for the video you’ll have to do more you did a good job.
Great alternative smooching Lynn! And great video!!
Thanks for sharing, I’m off to do some “Smooching!
Great idea and a great video! Love this tip for classes with people that just don’t want to get “messy” but love that “smooshed” look. TFS
Great card and amazing, new video! Congrats, Lynn! This is wonderfully fun and informative. Thanks!
Love it! Thanks for the shout out :). I’m going to try this for sure!
What a great alternative to smooshing with a window sheet. I got right up and tried this and my card came out great! Thanks for sharing.
Do you have a suggestion to address the problem I am having? I keep getting the outline of the block when I place it to smoosh. I have tried several different attempts, and few turn out like yours. I re-inked the pads, tried stamping off. Not working for me. 🙁
A-ha! I wasn’t using watercolor paper! Problem solved!
YAY!!!
