Not all flowers need color – Take 2

Hi all,  my last post was a neutral based card that had a flower stamped with Sahara sand.  The theme of that post was that not all flowers have to be colorful.  If you would like to see that post, click here.

Today’s post is the same theme with a different take.  You might notice a bit of pink in the center of the flower.  I used the new Powder Pink marker (available June 1) to color for just a hint.   Read on for more details.

Making the border

I created today’s card using the Birthday Blooms largest stamp on a piece of whisper white.  I used a ruler, and a black journal pen (our black marker also works) and created the border around the card front.  My grid paper was the handiest accessory to do this technique.

I  laid out the card front on the grid paper and then lined up my ruler at 1/2 inch in from all four edges.  I skipped over the areas where the stamp spilled over that 1/2 inch line.   I just love this effect.  I made several of these and left the sentiment area blank so that I could fill it in when I needed it for whatever occasion.

Measurements

I don’t usually include measurements but thought I would for this super  quick card layout.

  • Thick Whisper White Card base either 5- 1/2 x 8- 1/2 scored at 4- 1/4 or 4- 1/4 x 11 scored at 5- 1/2
  • Black card stock 3- 7/8 x 5 -1/8
  • Whisper white layer 3-3/4 x 5

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope to hear from via comments.
