Hello Good Morning Magnolia – Day 1

Today is June 3rd and tomorrow is the start of the new annual catalog.  I hope you have your wish list all made up for your first order.  This catalog is the best I’ve seen since I’ve been a demonstrator.  So many beautiful and versatile products.  Tomorrow I’ll have two posts coming out.  First one all about  how to get the most out of your new catalog.  The second is all about my retired items I have for sale.  Great prices on hard to get items you won’t want to miss.  So be sure to stop by tomorrow and see.

I Love This Suite

For today though, I’m sharing the first in my series of projects using the Good Morning Magnolia Suite of products.  The suite contains a two case stamp set, paper, ribbon, embossing folder, dies, Memories & More cards and Memories & More card bases and envelopes.  All of my projects this week us products from this suite as well as a few items I think are staples every crafter should have in their craft space.

This is the first card I made with this suite and I purposely wanted to show off the DSP – Designer Series Paper. Somewhere on the internet I recently saw a card where the background was a beautiful but busy piece of DSP.  The designer had framed it then added sentiments etc on top.  I thought that was a genius way to use some DSP that you just don’t want to cover up.

I cut my frame using the opposite side of the background DSP with two of the Rectangle Stitched dies.  Watch in my next card post where I use the inside piece of the die that I didn’t use here.

I stamped two flowers and colored them with Petal Pink and Mossy Meadow stampin blends. then cut them with the coordinating die.   They almost look like I cut them from the DSP don’t they.  I added some leaf cut outs to finish them off.

Your Tip – Technique for the day

Finally for the sentiment.  I stamped Hello on whisper white and tried to cut it with my trimmer but it was not coming out straight so I went with the stitched rectangles again.  I found the one that fit the height of my sentiment.  But it was obviously too long….not to worry. I cut it out again making it sized to exactly what I needed like this.

Now my sentiment is in it’s own stitched rectangle frame sized perfectly.  I saw this on the internet as well.  The stitched rectangle dies are way way more versatile than you might have originally thought.  You can do like I did here, to size down.  Use it to just add stitching across the bottom or top or even use the corner to add a stitched banner look.  That is why I consider these dies a necessity for any craft room.  If you didn’t order them from the Occasions catalog I hope you will put them on your next order.  You won’t regret it.

Thank you for checking out my post today.  Be sure to check out tomorrows post about the catalog and all about my Retired Item sale.  Later this week I’ll be sharing even more projects with the Good Morning Magnolia Suite.  You won’t want to miss them.  Until then….

Happy Stamping
