Painted Poppies Thinking of You

This is my second post today.  My first post is all about the new catalog going live today, Jan 3rd.  Click HERE to see more.

Painted Poppies Thinking of You

The cover of our new catalog is full of Poppies and I have been working with them all week getting my projects ready to share with you. Stampin Up has created a Peaceful Poppies Suite that is simply stated, stunning. Here’s a quick look at the suite and all the available products.

There are two stamp/die bundles, Peaceful Poppies Elements with watercolor, embossed and vellum accents and of course Ribbon.  I’m starting with a project that shows off the Painted Poppie Stamp Set.  Later posts I’ll share projects using other elements in the suite.

I made this card with versamark ink, embossing powder and Stampin Blends for coloring.

I created a mask of the two flowers with the die set.  I cropped them out of post-it note paper with some of the sticky.

Working from the image I wanted to be ‘on top’ I stamped the large flower first with versamark then heat embossed with white powder on a piece of Whisper White.  I laid the mask over the embossed flower and stamped the next flower.  After it was embossed I laid a mask on it and stamped the leaves with versamark and heat embossed with white powder.

I used Stampin Blends to color the image.  I loosely used this piece of DSP as a guide to color my poppies. The color lifter worked great to take some color off of the embossed lines and flower centers.

The sentiment is from Honey Bee. I only wanted a portion of the stamp to emboss on a piece of DSP so  I inked the Thinking of You portion of the stamp using a Versamark pen.  You can find these pens on Amazon.

Thank you for visiting today.  I always appreciate your comments and answer all questions as soon as possible.  Until then…

Happy Stamping
Lynn

  4. I love this poppy card, Lynn! Thanks for sharing.
How and when did you do the soft blue shadowing
that’s underneath the poppies and leaves? That really
adds to the design! Thanks for your help.

    • Hi Susan. I used pool party dark and light Stampin blends. First the dark close to the image then light out further. I used short small strokes. Thanks for asking.
