Good Morning Magnolia Mother’s Day for InKing Royalty Blog Hop

It is mid-April now and you know what that means…..time to start thinking about our celebrating our Mothers with Mother’s day cards.  Mother’s Day cards aren’t just sent to our own mothers, but any mother you know, and I bet you know a lot of them.  Especially during this ‘Stay at Home’ time when mom’s (and Dad’s) are working, maintaining a household and homeschooling the kids, now would be a great time to tell those Mom’s what a great job they are doing with a card.

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s April Blog Hop! During this year’s blog hops, we are enjoying a year of celebrations. This month’s projects celebrate Springtime, so I hope you are ready for gorgeous Spring colors, flowers and butterflies – and maybe some sweet baby animals. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

I made this card with the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set and Designer series paper and dies.  Check it out.

The Good Morning Magnolia die set doesn’t just coordinate with the stamps, it also coordinates with the Designer series paper.  I loved these little magnolia blooms that fit the die.  I also loved the paper they were included in but felt that all that dark background was ‘too much’ for the card I wanted to make.  So after I cropped the flower, I cropped around the cut out with a stitched circle die.  (I keep my stitched shapes, stitched rectangles, and stitched nested dies out on my workspace at all times.  I reach for them all the time so why bother putting them away. )

I used a circle die that was one notch larger than the stitched die and cut out a piece of striped Designer series paper.  I also cut out some petal pink cardstock using the same die to layer underneath.  DSP is not very sturdy and I wanted my circle to hold up.  I layered all the parts together using dimensional to pop up the flowers.

I used my stamparatus to stamp the designs on the background.  The large magnolia flower was stamped with petal pink and the two border stamps with mossy meadow.  The Happy Mother’s day stamp comes from Itty Bitty Greetings and was cropped with the classic label punch.

Dimensions

  • petal pink card base 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored at 4-1/4
  • magnolia lane DSP 4-1/4 x 5-1/2,  1/2 x 4, and pieces for die-cutting
  • 2 pieces of whisper white 4 x 5-1/4
