Tulips are one of my favorite flowers. I think because you just leave them alone and they do their thing every spring, brightening my view out my office window. That and of course because they come in so many colors. My husband and I are traveling to Amsterdam next year and hope to see the tulip fields in bloom while we are there. The new Flowering Tulips ‘two-step’ stamp set from Stampin’ UP! makes tulips all year long.
One of the new stamp sets and die bundles is Flowering Tulips and it has really pretty ‘two-step’ tulips as well as a whole set of dies to make layered tulips. For my first go with this bundle, I like to play with the stamps first to get a feel for how they work together. I’ll often case a sample from the catalog to do that and that’s exactly what I have here for you today.
There are two open tulip stamps and it can be tricky to tell which is the more detailed. When doing any two-step stamping I use the less detailed, and usually larger stamp first in my lighter color, following on with the more detailed, usually smaller stamp with a darker coordinating color. In my project, I used Pale Papaya on the top right stamp and Calypso Coral. on the top left. The leaves are stamped in Old Olive and Mossy Meadow.
I love this Happy Birthday font that came from the Special Moments Sale-a-Bration stamp set (free with a qualifying $100 order). It is stamped in versa mark and heat embossed with Gold powder for some shine.
Flowering Tulips Two-Step Measurements
- Thick basic white card base 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 scored at 4-1/4
- Flowering Fields DSP 3-1/2 x 5-1/4
- Basic White 2-3/4 x 4-3/8
- Calypso Coral cardstock 2-5/8 x 5/8
- Stamp the bottom layer of the tulip with Pale Papaya. Follow on with the next two-step layer of the tulip with Calypso Coral.
