March Paper Pumpkin Alternatives

For those of you unaware, Paper Pumpkin is a monthly crafting experience from Stampin’ UP!. Each month a paper crafting kit comes in the mail with all the supplies you need to complete the kit. There is also a fun video prepared by SU showing how the kit is assembled. Today I want to show you what I did with my Paper Pumpkin kit as an alternative to the directions. I only used a few supplies of my own and I’ve listed them below.

Most of the kits are for card making, but a couple of times a year there are kits for treat boxes that are fun to give to friends and family. March is the birthday month for Paper Pumpkin and it is always a very special kit usually with some extras included. March 2022 was no exception with two stamp sets instead of one and supplies that coordinate with one of the most popular products in the Jan-June mini catalog, New Horizons. Paper Pumpkin Alternatives

#1 – ‘I will always be here for you’ card. I used the card base that came in the kit but mixed up the elements provided for my own version.

#2 ‘A little note’ card. Again, I used the card base included but changed up the elements I used. I really liked the cattails with this card base design.

#3 ‘Thinking of You’ card. This Paper Pumpkin alternative uses a few additional supplies from my craft room. First I cut the front panel of the original card base down to 3-3/4 x 5 and mounted it on a Misty Moonlight standard card base of 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored at 4-1/4. I stamped the sentiment on Misty Moonlight and heat embossed it with white then cut it apart. The rest of the elements are directly from the kit.

#4 ‘Best Wishes’ card and my personal favorite. I made a standard card base from Pale Papaya and used the leftover portion of the card base from card number 3 above. I used stamps from the additional stamp set included in the kit to create the two-steep flowers, inked with Pale Papaya first, then overlayed with Calypso Coral. Add some Old Olive Leaves and Misty Moonlight dots for a collage with the rest of the elements all from the kit.
