Lovely in Linen Cards & Gift Bag

Today I have a fun project for you I learned from Julie DiMatteo at the PaperPixie.com, a fun set of cards and a gift bag to put them in, perfect for handing to a friend. I loved Julie’s cute bag and cards so I decided to make my own version using the Lovely in Linen Suite found on pages 25-26 in the Annual Catalog.

This suite has Lovely in Linen Designer Series Paper with the Lovely & Lasting stamp set and Lasting Label punch bundle as well as the Quatrefoil Tile embossing folder making it very affordable. The punch coordinates with an outline stamp with all of the sentiments included in the set, I was drawn to the large lower image and imagined many ways to use it.

Lovely in Linen Gift Bag

The gift bag designed by Julie along with 6 cards uses only one sheet of 12×12 Designer Series Paper. Julie has a video you can see here for full instructions on making the bag and a creative way of making the handles. Click Here to See the Video.

Lovely & Lasting Card

The bag uses a piece of 8-1/2 x 12 piece of DSP leaving a strip 3-1/2 x 12. Cut this down to 2″ pieces you have the start of 6 cards for your bag. I added a layer of Sweet Sorbet cardstock cut to 2=1/8 x 3-5/8 to go behind it for some added color and balance.

When using a large image like this it is fun to add multiple colors, but that can be kinda tricky. I have found the easiest way to do this is by using my sponge daubers. I ink up each one individually and then decide where each color will go on the image. For this card, I used Sweet Sorbet, Pale Papaya, and Evening Evergreen, each pulled from the Designer Series Paper. Make sure to breathe on the stamp after applying the ink to rewet it otherwise the colors make not show as much as you like.

I know there are some areas where the Evening Evergreen is on the Pale Papaya flower but I kinda liked how that looked and decided not to redo it. If it bothers you though, you can always use washi tape, or masking tape to cover areas you want to protect.
