I was thrilled when the new catalog came out and it included the Prized Peony stamp and die bundle. My favorite flower in the whole world is a Peony. Every house I have ever lived in has had a peony bush so that one time per year I can cut some blooms and bring them in the house and smell their wonderfulness. To me it is heaven. It could be that I like them so much because they only bloom for a short time, only about a week, and around here that is at the end of May. So you cut them while you can and enjoy them quickly.
I have had both red and pink peony bushes. My experience is only the pink ones have that super aroma but that could just have been the variety of the plant I had. However, my card is smell free so I made one of each color using Petal Pink and Cherry Cobbler. I cut each of the four dies using cardstock and then sponged the same color ink onto each of the four pieces using a sponge dauber. That gave the cardstock, and the flower, a little more dimension. I did the same with the Garden Green leaves. The underneath layer has been sponged with garden green ink, the detail die layer has not.
The flower dies can look intimidating but really they are quite easy to assemble. The four dies fit inside of each other using the slit with the largest on the outside and so on. All four dies have the same shape at the bottom to align together. I tucked each one inside then lifted the bottom flaps and added liquid glue just at the bottom. to hold them together.
If you are wondering where the background layer came from it is a piece of vellum (I know, it looks like it is white but it is not) die cut with the largest die from Hippo and Friends and embossed with the Dainty Diamonds 3D embossing Folder. I will be honest, I’m not sure I will ever use the Hippo portion of those dies but the layering dies were a must-have.
Thank you for visiting today. I always appreciate your comments and answer all questions as soon as possible. Until next time…
Happy Stamping
