A Grand Kid for Hadley

Stampin’ UP! has done it, created a stamp set for every stamper who is also a grandparent, with the new A Grand Kid.  I have 6 grandchildren, with one on the way.  3 from my side and three from my husband’s side so I have plenty of opportunities to use this great stamp set, the first being a birthday card for Hadley.

A Grand Kid

Hadley is turning 8 next week.  Can’t believe she is already 8 as it seems like just yesterday she was just arriving.  Hadley is so sweet.  She loves to be a helper, loves to play with her younger cousin, and will be an awesome babysitter in later years.  Hadley is also ‘secretly sassy’ as her mother and I like to say, coming up with some real zingers when you least expect it.  You want to keep your ears open when you are around Hadley.

I swore I would not purchase another alphabet die set ever again….and then the annual catalog had the Playful Alphabet die set with 58 dies for only $34.  that less than $0.50 per piece!  Or, you bundle it with the Pattern Play stamp set and get both for $45.  Now that is a value purchase.

I knew with Hadley’s birthday coming up, this Playful Alphabet would be perfect for spelling out her name.  Combine that with A Grand Kid stamp set and you’ve got a winner every time.

I used the Adhesive foam sheets to make the letters stand out.  First I cut a piece of patterned paper the size I needed for all the letters and adhered it to the foam.  I laid out all the letters and used some post-it note tape to hold them in place then ran it through my die cut machine.  I saved the remainder in case I think of a way to use it in the future.

I laid a ruler down on the stitched nested die-cut to provide a straight line for the letters then attached them working from the left and right sides towards the middle.  It’s easier to get proper spacing that way.  The rest was just fun assembly.
