Today’s post is a card I made for my younger brother Joe.
Joe is one my three brothers, married with a beautiful family. His son, my nephew was born this spring, 7 weeks early. After a very stressful first month they were able to bring him home an he is a growing healthy boy. His big sister started kindergarten this month. Needless to say, Joe has had a lot going on this year. My card for him is ‘diSTRESSed’ but hopefully finds him not so stressed himself. He is certainly a one of a kind guy.
About the card
1. When I started out to make this card I had no idea it would turn out to look like it does. I started with some DSP from Epic Day. But the tangerine color didn’t have enough pop, so I added a newspaper print stamp from Stampabilities over the top in Baked Brown Sugar. Then some Gorgeous Grunge. Now I was getting somewhere.
2. The patterned paper from Epic Day in the flag has some great colors and I wanted to incorporate them into it so it tied together. Pool party did the trick. And distressed pool party with crumb cake edges is even better.
3. I placed the sentiment on the pool party cardstock so it could show through. Punching with the Artisan Label punch was the look I was going for.
What I used
Stamps: Gorgeous Grundge, Banner Greetings, A Dozen Thoughts, Ink: Crumb Cake, Brown Sugar, Paper: Early Espresso, Epic Day DSP, Pool Party, Whisper White, Accessories: Artisan Punch, Candy Dots, Toothpick, Distressing tool, dimensionals.
