Today’s post is a wedding invitation I made for Ashley. She has been the best friend of my youngest daughter since they were in grade school. They played soccer together, they had first boyfriends together, they were in the High School band together. My daughter, Kelsey, even talked Ashley into switching from the Flute to the Sousaphone. Why is that such a big deal? Because this was for marching band and the flute weighs about a 5 oz and comes in a case the size of a small women’s purse. The sousaphone, or Tuba, as we usually called them weighs 40 lbs, and wraps around their bodies resting on one shoulder. Most of their marching practice and season is during the hot weather so this was a really big deal and true friendship on Ashley’s part. One year there was a huge wind storm that occurred as they were marching on the football field. I thought they were going to topple over the way the wind was catching in those big bells. Well, I digress.
Ashley is getting married in Oct and she asked me to create her invitations. I actually received mine in the mail today : ). She wanted Clean, Simple and Elegant. I think we pulled it off. They have to be the simplest invitation I’ve ever created but certainly one of the most beautiful with the lines, the shimmer of the paper, the tasteful fonts and of course, the scoring all the way around.
About the Card
1. I used paper I found at a wholesale paper supply store here in Columbus Ohio. It’s 80 Cover, died all the way through, and this particular version has a linen texture with a soft shimmer. It pairs perfectly with SU Very Vanilla which I used for the custom envelopes. The paper is beautiful for weddings, but I have to say it is hard to print without smearing. I ended up printing them using a laser jet printer, rather than my home ink jet.
2. I used the Stampin Up Simply Scored to score 1/2 inch all around the invitation and the response card. Then used the diagonal plate to create custom envelopes in very vanilla for both the invitation and the response card.
Thank you for stopping by my blog today. I hope you liked it. Ashely loved them!!
