Have you had enough of Red and Green and Holly. How about a jump start on Valentine’s day with a card for the Paper Players color challenge.
About my card
1. The timing for this challenge couldn’t have been better. I had just finished up this card on Saturday for an upcoming class I’m hosting in Jan. Call me crazy, but I like to work ahead. Anyway, I had this valentine card design in my head and then Sunday morning I open my email to find the same (nearly) colors for the challenge. Why do I say nearly? Well I intended to use Raspberry Ripple on my card but realized I was out of card stock in that color. So I changed it up to Rose Red instead. I think it would look great in either color.
2. Backgrounds – today’s card uses the painters tape background technique. I tore off pieces of painters tape longer than the whisper white cardstock and tapped them onto the pink pirouette and old olive stamp pad, then onto the paper leaving a cool, not too heavy background.
3. Love Thinlit. I wanted to use the Love thinlit in some Valentine cards this year. It would allow me to say I successfully used all three of the words in the thinlit expression collection for a Holiday – Thankful, Merry and Love. However, I didn’t want the card to be ubber mushy or romantic as I was making it for my class and not everyone needs or wants a mushy love card. I wanted a card they could send to their spouse, their grandchild, or a friend. The inside sports the Tags for You stamp “Happy Heart Day”. I think this card fits that bill.
Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you like my card today and are getting ready for the New year.
Lynn

WOW, Lynn! This is a showstopper! I love what you have done with this color challenge. This is a gorgeous card. 🙂
Thanks Brian! I felt like I channelled you when making this card, hehe. It just felt like a Brian type of card from the get go.
I sure like the fresh size of your card Lynn and your background technique! “Love” the sentiment treatment nicely done!!
So glad you liked it Patti. I just could not imagine it in anything standard size, ya know.
