Golden Sunflower for Pals Paper Arts #186

Happy New Year All.  Hope you had a great day of football and relaxation yesterday.

Today’s card is the first challenge of 2014 for the Pals Paper Arts, #186.  This was a color challenge using Island Indigo, Gold and Whisper White.  What  a great combo.  Here’s my card and a sneak peak at one of a free item you can earn from the Sale-a-bration brochure just for placing an order of $50 between Jan 28 and March 31.

About my card
1.  I didn’t have a lot of the Gold Foil paper left so I wanted to be sure to bring in the gold from the color challenge in other ways as well.  I choose to stamp the Sunflower background stamp using the Gold Metallic Encore stamp pad and adorn it with an Antique Brad with the burnished bold tone.  I used the same stamp pad to stamp the image from the new Your Lovely stamp set free from Sale-a-bration.

2. I used the Deco Labels collection framelits to create the Gold Foil matting after fussy cutting out the stamped image.

3.  I had everything put together but felt it was missing the tie in to the Island Indigo card base.  Everything else seemed to be working nicely together but the Island indigo base looked incongruous.  Easy fix.  I water colored the flowers of the stamped image with my aqua painter and Island Indigo ink.  Just a bit to tie it all together.  Much better.

Metallic and especially Gold are big this year.  Lots of great products using gold are available in the new Occasions catalog.  Check back here on Sunday Jan 5 when I have the very special honor to be Mary Fish’s guest stamper.  I’ll be sharing a new project using both Gold and Silver together.  I hope you like it.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.  Happy New Year and Happy Stamping.

Lynn
