Watercolor Birthday

Today’s card is for my new boss.  She was a  recipients of one of the Welcome cards I made earlier this week.  You can see that card here.  I found out yesterday that her birthday is this weekend, although she doesn’t like to talk about it, and is trying to keep it on the down-low.  Which is why I found about her birthday from her administrative assistant.  I LOVE administrative assistants and do my best to always always always stay on their good side because of all the wonderful things they do for me.  Anyway, my boss’ admin told me about her birthday.  I had also had a recent conversation with my boss and learned that she likes watercolor, not to do it, but to look at.  So here is my meager attempt at  a watercolor card for her.

About my card
1.  I really like the So Very Grateful stamp set for water coloring.  You can see a previous card I made with this stamp set here.  I pulled out my trusty aqua pen and went to work.  Ta Da!!.

2.  Lots of ink colors were used here as I like to layer colors on top of colors to get the shading.  The blue flowers actually started out with coastal cabana, the same color as the card base, with Island Indigo on top and Daffodil Delight in the center.  The yellow flowers are So Saffron, Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry.  For the leaves I used Pear Pizzaz, Gumball Green and Always Artichoke.  I used Sahara Sand around the edges for a dimensional look.

I hope you like it, and thanks for stopping by today.  Your comments are always appreciated. If you would like to order any of the products I used in my project today, you can click on any of the images below and be directed to my on line Stampin Up store.

  1. Gorgeous, Lynn! Such bright and beautiful colors. I’m sure your boss will love it. AND, you are right about staying nice to the assistant – they are powerful and important and wonderful. I vote that the assistant should receive one of your beautiful cards, too. 🙂

  2. Hi Lynn, I found your site though Brian King’s site. I LOVE your card today! You did a fantastic job with the watercoloring, the shadowing is great. It’s a warm and thoughtful card, she’ll love it. Did you use watercolor paper or shimmer paper? Thanks! Jill

  3. Your boss will love this. What I love the most about this is the shadowing as it really does add dimension! I’ll have to incorporate that next time I watercolor 🙂
