Today’s card is for Sean. Sean is joining the management team of my department where I work and the other managers and I are thrilled to have him on board. Our department has gone through some change lately and Sean’s addition is, we hope, the last for a while. Never the less, I wanted to make a special welcoming card for his first day next week.
This card was totally inspired by the Mojo Monday sketch from today, #338
About my card
1. Following a sketch. I stayed pretty true to form on this sketch, with a few minor exceptions. My circle is smaller. Had it been the size in the sketch I felt it would have overpowered the card, or over shadowed the sentiment. I also added a piece of Crumb cake on the left. It looked like it needed something over there, probably based on the angle I cut the Designer Series Paper that came out of the Fresh Prints DSP Stack in the Celebrate the Everyday Catalog. The stack has 48 sheets, 4 ea of 12 double-sided designs.
2. No Stamping on this card. I mentioned the other day that I thought I didn’t have a welcome stamp, then found the Welcome, Baby in the Petite Pairs set. I really didn’t want to use the same one again, so I turned to My Digital Studio, MDS, to create my personalized sentiment. Using MDS, I was able to print out Welcome, Sean in Real Red, the coordinating color on the card. Three little candy dots and some Real Red ink on the edges are the finishing touches. You can try MDS for free for 30 days. It’s amazing the things you can create, great and small, with this tool.
3. The tiny banners were made using the Banner punch, still available as a free item until March 31 if you place an order of $50 or more. Free is wonderful. There is also a coordinating stamp set to punch out the most adorable itty bitty banners.
Thanks for stopping by today. If you would like to order any of the products I used in my project you can do so by clicking on any of the pictures below and you will be taken directly to my on line Stampin Up store.
What I used
Lynn, I love this! I am particularly happy that you used such bright colors to make a card for a guy. Even the red works wonderfully here. Good for you! I know he’ll love this card. Woo hoo!
Hi Lynn. I think the colors and pattern are perfect for a masculine card. I like your slight modifications to the layout as well.
