Our Department Administrative Assistant, Kathy, is retiring this year. She has worked for the company for 41 years. Yes, I said 41. Needless to say, she has seen a lot of change and experienced a lot of growth over that time period. So I wanted to make her retirement card very special. In the 2014 Holiday catalog from Stamp’ Up! there is a new stamp set with coordinating framelits called Holiday Home. I’m a sucker for bundles (save 15%) but even without loving bundles I immediately marked this set on my must have list. You’ll be able to order it beginning Aug 28th. The stamp set features three houses, with lots of extra stamps to make it usable all year round. I have some other sneak peek items on it too. I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches as my layout. I used my aqua pen, still my favorite tool for adding color to anything, to shade in the house after stamping with early espresso. The tree to the side of the house is from another new set called White Christmas – also on my fave list this year – and is colored using sponge daubers. This tree is actually one of three on the stamp. You can seethe others on the inside of the card. I love those trees and with sponge daubers, or aqua painters or markers you can add the appropriate color for the season. Or leave them be and emboss with Gold, Silver, Early Espresso. Very versatile. Because I had the trees in the foreground I used the Hardwood stamp in the background. Then added accent paper, also new from the Holiday Catalog – called Color Me Autumn. Gorgeous prints and colors perfect for fall crafting. Don’t forget the envelope. I used this leaf stamp from Lovely as a Tree. Thanks for stopping by today. Love it! This is beautiful, Lynn. The wood panels in the back add such a nice backdrop. Congratulations to Kathy!
Lynn this is fabulous! I love the colors and yes, this bundle is on my list to purchase too! (Secret, all bundles are… such a great value, I just can’t pass them up!). I didn’t realize Kathy is retiring this year…. she will be missed terribly; I just love her. I know she will love this card; it captures all the we love about her. Warm, beautiful and always makes you feel right at home.
Such a sweet and happy scene for someone who is retiring! I love the way you have done the sentiment strip. Thank you for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches.
