For the one I love…and a Hank update

Happy Valentines day everyone.  Today is Valentine’s Day and I have one last V-Day card to share with you.  This one I made for my husband and I based it on a card by Mary Fish. You can see her awesome card Here.  I really liked how she used the heart cut out as a frame.  I changed it up just a bit with a different color scheme and stamp set but the layout is the same.  My husband, who is not a frue frue kind of guy, really liked it.

Stampin Up Hearts Framelits Hello Life AverysOwlery.comI used the Hello Life stamp from the Occasions Catalog. This is part of the Project Life collection of products now offered by Stampin Up.  I’m not a Scrapbooker but I do really like the stamp sets that Stampin UP has created to use either with Project Life or not.  Taking my hint from Mary, I stamped the love with the long tails on the Real Red card stock with Versamark and then white embossed it.  There is nothing like the crispness of white embossing on a dark rich color.  I then laid my whisper white heart frame piece over the top and lined up the stamp again and restamped in versamark to get the tails on the frame.  Those I heat embossed with Black.

The red ribbon is actually a the White Organza Ribbon, sponged with Real Red.  That make this one of the most versatile ribbons in the catalog and so easy to color.  Three cute little candy dots in the corner balance the card visually.

I thought I would also share a Hank update.  Hank is our new puppy who came to live with us in December.  He is now 17 weeks old now and growing like a weed.  The vet expects him to be around Hank and Payton80lbs, slightly bigger than I initially thought but still the cutest guy ever.  He weighs around 45 or so now.  He’s gotten too big for me to lift and hold in my arms while I get on the scale : )

So, we have an older dog too. His name is Payton and he is a chocolate lab.  Here are some pictures of the two of them eating dinner.  Hank and Payton

There are a couple of things to note with this picture.

  1. Yes, the are the same color
  2. Yes, they are eating out of the same bowl
  3. Yes, Hank is laying down on the floor while he eats.  Some might call this lazy, some might call it just getting closer to the food.

Now, here is the rest of the picture…….

Yes, there is an untouched bowl right next to him but he insists on eating with Payton.  Thank goodness Payton has the patience of a saint and doesn’t ever get bothered by much of anything, even Hank sharing his bowl.

Gotta love the four legged guys in our lives.  So my post today is for all three of my loves – the ‘men’ in my life.
