I recently watched a video by Stampin Up on all the ways that you could use the What’s Up punch and dreamed up this card, literally. I woke up with it in my head. I mentioned a few weeks ago that we have dear dear friends who have just learned the husband has lung cancer. I sent a card to him, you can see that card here. However, the spouse or significant other of the patient can be in just as much need of comfort as the patient. Sometimes more so, as they struggle with not really being able to do anything. My mother has had breast cancer twice so I know a bit what it feels like to be the one who isn’t ill. This card is for Judy as she travels on this journey with her husband.
I used the What’s Up punch for the bird houses. I added the stitching just using my Early Espresso marker, no fancy tool necessary. The little heart was punched using the Owl Builder Punch and Basic Grey card stock. The branch is from Flower Frenzy Bigz L die. I made two, one in Early Espresso and one in Mossy Meadow and cut out the leaves of the mossy meadow and reattached them on the branch. I purposely mixed up the leaves and attched them crookedly for more depth.
I used paper from the Best year Ever Designer Series Paper collection, free for another two weeks with a $50 order, and after attaching it to the Sahara Sand card base, I cropped out the circle using my circle framelits. I layered another piece of whisper white on the inside of the card to show through. This also helps cover the ends of the white satin ribbon at the bottom.
To make the sun I cropped a 1 inch circle with my circle punch from the reverse side of the same Designer Series Paper. I sponged it with Tangerine Tango and some Daffodil Delight before attaching to my card. I then sponged around the outside of the sun with Daffodil Delight. There is also a hint of Soft Sky in the rest of the opening.
The sentiment, one of my favorites, is from Retired stamp set Pursuit of Happiness. After cropping the sentiment I tapped each straight edge onto the Early Espresso Ink pad for a touch of color.
Don’t forget the inside. I used some extra pieces of DSP for a little border inside the card.

I love when I wake up with inspiration for a card. It’s happened to me many times. This card is amazingly delightful. The details such as the heart openings to the birdhouse sand leaves on branches were so thoughtfully created. Love your card.
Lynn, What a sweet card and a wonderful use of this punch! I know it will be appreciated and admired.
Very clever. Love your sun. Also, the layering of the leaves on the branch. It makes such a difference.
So very cute! Thanks for sharing
