August Paper Pumpkin – Part 1

Every so often my Paper Pumpkin is delivered and instead of making it up just like the instruction recommend, I get my craft on and go crazy.  That’s what happened with the August Paper Pumpkin kit.  Paper Pumpkin is having a big sale, with 50% off your first two months if you are a first time subscriber and sign up before September 10, 2015.  That’s the same as buy one get one free.  We all love getting things on sale or free, right!!

The kit contained supplies to make 6 3.5×5 inch cards with envelopes.  I opted to cut the card bases down and use them as card fronts instead.  With just a few other supplies from my craft stash I was able to make 8 cards and all but two of them are different.

Here are the Gold striped card alternatives I came up with.

Card base cut in half and layered on Very Vanilla card stock.  I re-cropped the tag included in the kit with the Lots of Labels die, adding the size larger out of Gold Glimmer paper.  Gold thread and a gold sequin and a simple black banner for final touches. 

Half piece of the gold striped card base with 1/8″ gold ribbon on very vanilla card base.

Embossed vellum to soften the black card base and some gold sequins.  I”ve used the black ribbon included in the kit in a different way.

I think this is my favorite.  I didn’t cut the card base in half but instead cut off one end and used it as the background for a larger pieces of very vanilla stamped with the scroll from the kit.  That did leave me with a score line going through the gold striped card stock.  I used black ribbon form the kit there and evenly spaced on the other end to hide it.  A piece of Gold glitter cut with Lots of Labels die and some gold sequins add the finishing touches.
