Today’s card celebrates two things, a birthday and the last feelings of summer. I made this card for Tammy, who is on my staff at my day job. Tammy’s birthday is Aug 30th and I thought a flower card with happy bright colors would be perfect for her.
The layout came from a previous Mojo Monday sketch. Even if you don’t play along with sketch challenges, those sketches can be used anytime for inspiration.
I pulled out bright colors galore with Cucumber Crush, Tangelo Twist, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, and Daffodil Delight. The sketch called for a circle like element on the right so I created the melon mambo flower using Flower Patch stamped with Melon Mambo on Melon Mambo card stock three times. I used the coordinating framelits for the largest and snipped the other two out for adding layers. I punched a whisper white flower with the Pansy punch and cut out the petals individually and layered them in between the bottom layers of the flower. It was just too pink without the off setting white.
I thought the card was finished but felt the elements didn’t stand out enough. I pulled out my favorite accent item lately, the white gel pen and highlighted the leaves, petals and the banner. I’m so much happier with the result.
