I am not beyond using many many stamp sets on a single card but I get a real sense of accomplishment and pride when I can create a lovely project, using only one single stamp set. That is, well nearly, the case with today’s Mother’s Day Card and the First Site stamp set. The flourishes, the sentiments, the colors all came together. I say nearly because I did have to use a non-Stampin Up stamp on the inside. More on that below.
My card was created with Soft Sky, Basic Black and Whisper White. I have always liked the crispness of this color combination. However, when using a lot of the same color, as I did here, you need to add contrast with patterns. I used a piece of retired paper for the black and white patterned but there are lots of current paper designs available (Neutrals paper stack, It’s my Party DSP, to name a few) that could be substituted.
When I was building this card I realized that the sentiment would fit nicely in one of the Lots of Labels framelits along with the tiny branch stamp. I used Soft Sky ink for the larger flourish on the background and the whisper white.
Don’t forget the inside: I again stamped the flourish with Soft Sky then added my Happy Mother’s Day stamp over the top with some of the birds in Basic Black. I picked up this Mother’s Day stamp many years ago at a big box store and I just love the script.

Lynn, what a wonderful card! I love this color combination ( unexpected for Mother’s Day – but perfect). I love this layout and your use of shapes to create a wonderful card. ❤️
