Spring is a busy season for card makers. There’s St Patrick’s day, not technically during spring, but close enough. Then there is Easter, then of course Mother’s Day, followed closely by Graduation and Wedding season. Whew. Well today I have a quick St Patrick’s Day card. I made up several of these in no time to send out to all the little ones (grandchildren and nieces and nephews) in my life.
I laid out my card base on this super sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.
The puches and background stamp are the star of this card. I used the heart punch from Itty Bitty Accents to create the shamrock. The washi label punch was perfect for the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes.
After I layed it all out I realized there was just too much white space in the background so I pulled out the Watercolor Wash background stamp. This stamp is oversized so to get a clean image I lay the stamp, rubber side up, on the table and ink. I wanted to use a stamped off image so it wasn’t so dark so I laid scrap paper on the stamp and used my brayer to go over the paper to pick up the ink. I repeated this process to ink my card stock. Using the brayer keeps even pressure on the card stock. If you don’t have a brayer, you can also use the long edge of a bone folder, the edge of an embossing folder, or even your fingers.
Don’t forget the inside. I pulled out Pictogram Punches stamp set and used the stripped heart to create another shamrock inside. The stem of the shamrock is from the new Sale A Bration stamp set Party Pants.
