A Different take on a Sunburst

I’m always looking for techniques to share with my customers. I pour through the catalog, blogs, Pinterest and SplitcoastStampers.com.  I was really wanting to show off the Sunburst Thinlit Die in a different way and saw a card in the catalog I decided to case, with a few tweeks of course. Stampin Up Starburst AverysOwlery.com

Instead of using the Sunburst Die as a cut out, I used it as a stencil.  First though, I used watercolor paper and watercolored a background using Daffodile Delight, Watermelon Wonder and Mint Macaron.  I spritzed the paper with water and used an aqua painter to lightly apply a color wash.  Then I use the Die over the top and my Watermelon Wonder marker, the thin end, to draw the sunburst lines.

I added clouds made from vellum and the Tree Builder Punch.  I adhered them with glue dots only on the ends so they puff a little in the middle.  The sentiment is from the Sunburst Sayings Stamp set that coordinates with the die.  Buy them together and save 15%.  I used my Crushed Curry, Watermelon Wonder and Mint Macaron markers to color the sentiment before stamping.  The circle layers are 1 – 3/8 circle punch for the sentiment, 1-1/2 circle punch for Daffodil Delight and 1-3/4 circle punch for Watermelon Wonder.
