On the Road to Recovery

This past week one of my friends had to have emergency surgery.  All is well now but we were all very worried about her.  I wanted to make a card for her to Get Better and pulled out a new Stamp Set Beautiful Ride to create it.  I ‘won’ this stamp set from my upline Brian King for being the first to answer a trivia question.  I love free stuff.

I used a masking technique to create the different areas of color.  First with the blue I masked whisper white then with a brayer added Soft Sky over the whole area,  then Marina Mist midway and up and finally Island Indigo towards the top.  I also used a sponge dauber to add some island indigo along the bottom edge.  I moved the mask and used Smoky Slate in the center (for the road) and Old Olive for the grass.  After all the background was completed, I stamped the car image from the stamp set with the little dog in the window.  My friend has a dog, Parker, who goes with her everywhere so he had to be in the picture.  In the Meadow has a wonderfule stamp of grass and I used that randomly with Old Olive and the tree in Basic Black.  I used markers to color in the car, Marina Mist, Island Indigo and Black.  I used a ruler and my black marker to draw the edges of the road.
