In a recent Stamp Therapy class my students made these three adorable cards. I first saw these cards while watching a broadcast of a Stampin Up event in April. I was on the fence on whether to purchase the Fruit Stand stamp set and paper until I watched her demonstration, then fell in love.
PICK YOUR THEME
Ok, food. But the cool thing about these cards is the center image. It doesn’t show up well in photos but the entire circle is embossed with clear embossing powder. Instructions are below. It makes the fruit look almost real with the texture added from the embossing.
PICK YOUR TECHNIQUE
All the fruit was stamped on a 2 1/2 inch watercolor paper circle. The peach was inked with Peekaboo Peach first, then with a sponge dauber I sponged the edges and down the center line with Watermelon Wonder, then stamped on the circle. The leaves are inked first with Pear Pizzazz then I sponged on some Emerald Envy ink before stamping. Once all the watercolor paper was stamped, I spritzed it with water. Don’t go overboard on this step. You want the ink to run a bit but not so much it gets muddy. So hold the spritzer up high and hit it two or three times then decide if it needs more. Ask me how I know this : / Once it is wet, sprinkle generously with clear embossing power to coat the entire circle then heat with the heat gun to set.
REPEAT
The Strawberry was inked with Flirty Flamingo then I rolled it on the Real Red ink pad to pick up some darkening on the edges.
For the Pear I used Pear Pizzazz, Peekaboo Peach and Old Olive in various full or stamped off strengths to get to the look I wanted. Then I used Emerald Envy for the outline.
FINISH THE JOB
The rest of the cards are pretty simple. Each has a piece of Fruit Stand Designer Series paper as a background and one of the sentiments. The full tool list is below. Click on any of them to shop away.

These cards are lovely, but I didn’t realize embossing powder could be used on water instead of pigment ink. Does that work the same?
Nice cards. I’ll have to try this technique. Have a great day!
