A Big Thanks to Pam and Brian

I mentioned in my last post that I was in Atlanta Ga this past weekend for World Card Making Day event hosted by Pam Morris and Brian King, my Stampin Up up-line.  This was my third year in a row attending this awesome event that has grown by 100% each passing year.  So much fun and inspiration.

Brian asked if I would be willing to do a presentation to the attendees on color inspiration.  I was more than happy to do so and had fun preparing for my talk.  As a thank you to all the presenters, Pam and Brian gave each of us a goody bag filled with items that represented Atlanta.  I no have a container of grits, Pralines Pecans that I haven’t opened yet, the cutest can of Coca Cola ever that DID NOT explode in my suitcase while flying home, a half eaten package of Biscoff cookies (ok, it was full when they gave it to me) and the one thing that I will treasure the most, a coffee mug from Starbucks with the skyline of Atlanta on it.  I love Starbucks and their location mugs are awesome.

Now, do you know what I thought of when I saw this mug, there is a hint in the second paragraph above.  No guesses…..I saw color.  I saw Dapper Denim, Real Red, Sahara Sand, Crushed Curry and Marina Mist.  Now you see them, I knew you would.  I want to send thank you cards to Brian and Pam for all they did for us this weekend, what better place to get my color inspiration. Here’s my card

Not only was my card inspired by the colors, I had to put a diagonal stripe on it for Brian.  He does a lot of those and even Kimberly, one of the other presenters called this out at the event.  Ok, she told him it was an intervention but still, she called it out.

I started with a piece of the Fancy Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper. This paper is already embossed with designs, you can use it as is, or color it to suit your needs.  I used a wet sponge and ink, another trick from another presenter this weekend, Shawn de Oliveira from ShawnStamps.com, to color the paper with Real Red, Marina Mist and Crushed Curry.  Added strips of Crushed Curry and Real Red on either side and a piece of Dapper Denim over the top.

I hope you like my color inspriation and my card today.  Thanks for stopping by.  Brian and Pam, your cards are in the mail. : )
