This past weekend was a full fledged Stampin Up weekend for me. I traveled to Atlanta Ga for two full day events all about stamping, crafting and friends. The first was Brian King and Pam Morris’ World Card Making Day 2016 event. What a great day. I was able to see stamping friends from all over the country that I hadn’t seen for over a year. So so fun. We had games, giveaways, make and takes and presentations. I was honored enough to be asked by Brian to be a presenter for the nearly 200 member audience. He asked me to talk about color inspiration and I thought I would share some of that with you today.
I find that because we are surrounded by color everywhere, and because color is such a huge part of my stamping and card making, that I see our Stampin Up colors everywhere. See that rug, it has cajun craze in it and old olive in it. That painting, it has sahara sand, black and delightful dijon. I used that premise for my presentation, sharing pictures of lots of different things that could give you color inspiration. Here is one of those pictures and the card that was inspired by it.
INSPIRATION
This is a cross stitch kit that can be purchased from The Stitchery, a cross stitch and needlepoint catalog. When I saw this picture, I saw the beautiful combination of colors. Tip Top Taup, Peekaboo Peach, Perfect Plum, Early Espresso, and a bit of Pool Party as well. Just lovely. Color inspiration is just that, what colors you like that you know already go together. You don’t need to use all the colors, pick three of them and go for it. Here’s my card.
RESULT
I decided to focus on the peekaboo peach and pool party with tip top taupe as the base. Since there aren’t any Designer series papers with exactly those three colors in it, I pulled out the In color paper stack for the words background paper. I sponged just a bit of tip top taupe around the edges to soften it. The tree is stamped with Taupe from Lovely as a tree. Both of these pieces have a thin mat of pool party. I wanted something on the card base and figured the pine branches from the Pretty Pines set would be the perfect accent, again stamped with tip top taupe.
What do you use for your color inspiration. I’d love to hear your ideas.

Such a great way to find inspiration – you inspired me and the attendees with your amazing presentation, Lynn. You are amazing. I love how you pulled these colors from this cross stitch to make a card with a completely different feel. You rock!
