Fun with Wood

No this is not a post about wooden things, like furniture or picture frames.  This is a post about paper that looks like wood.  Stampin Up has created a new paper stack called Wood Textures.  Each piece is 6×6 and has rich images of wood panels or logs.  The colors are so realistic, you think you are looking at an actual piece of wood.

I made two cards with this DSP paper to share with you today.  This first one I used one piece as a background over the top of my card base.  I cut around the logs of another piece to look like a stack of wood.  I added a Happy Birthday cut in Early Espresso and some white craft stamping from the Wood Words stamp set.

The piece of DSP I had used to cut out the logs was still big enough to create this next card.  I trimmed it up and layered over an Early Espresso card base.  Added a few stamps, the heart, rooster and Farmers Market, and created a tag for the thank you using on e of the framelits from the new Wood Crate Framelits set.  More projects to come using that set in future posts.

The versatility of this paper is endless and especially great for those masculine birthday or thank you cards you need on hand.  I hope you will consider giving it a try.
