Better With You No Line Watercolor

Well, kind of No Line Watercolor.  I’m sharing today my three versions of the Bird from Better With You stamp set.  It is designed specifically for watercolor so I tried three different ways before landing on the one I liked the best.

WATERCOLOR ON SHIMMER PAPER

I was using the sample from the catalog as my guide.  You can see it on page 169 of the annual catalog.  As a demonstrator I have access to details about how the samples are made and this particular one was watercolored on Shimmer paper after stamping with Sahara Sand – stamped off for an even lighter look.

The bird was ‘ok’ but I hated how the diamond shapes looked. to defined, and I couldn’t get the vibrancy on the bird that they had in the sample.  On to try number 2.

MARKERS ON WHISPER WHITE WITH BLENDER PEN

Next attempt was to use Sahara Sand stamped off on plain whisper white cardstock.  I colored with markers and blended with the Blender Pen to smooth the color.  It was more vibrant but i still didn’t really like where the colors met.

WATERCOLOR ON WATERCOLOR PAPER

My final attempt was to watercolor on watercolor paper using an aqua painter.  Finally, I was getting the “watercolor” look I wanted.  It sill is a far cry from the sample in the catalog but you know what – I like it this way.

  1. This is drop-dead-gorgeous, Lynn! I love the blurred effect on the third one. Amazing colors and beautiful style.
