How about a fall sunset

Two weeks ago I looked outside and there was the most beautiful sunset.  Colors mingled of pink and blue and yellow and orange.  with he trees were silhouetted against the backdrop.  I took a picture (finally) so I could remember it.  You can see my inspirational picture below.

This is my attempt at that beautiful sunset.  First the backgound. I pulled out my Clarity Stencil Brushes and the colors I thought were best represented.  Petal Pink, Highland Heather, Grapefruit Grove, So Saffron and Balmy Blue.  Instead of using the stencil brush side to side I dabbed it on the paper with the bristle ends I was able to control the color and get that mix of colors I saw in the sky

I stamped the grove of trees from Winter Woods on one side and used the tree thinlits for In The Woods die set for the silhouettes. I also used the curved die to create the horizon line out of basic black. I added a bit of Wink of Stella to the silhouetted trees.

I pulled out lots of color combinations for the card base and decided the Balmy Blue was the best without being to overpowering, like the others.  I used a piece of the Subtles Designer Series 6×6 paper behind and lastly a piece of Grapefruit Grove bakers twine for just a bit of additional color.

The sentiment is for my Dad.  He passed away in April 2017 but his birthday is Sept 11 so I suppose I’ve been thinking of him a lot lately.  A dear friend from their church came to visit my dad at home in the last few weeks he was with us.  She took a picture out their front yard of a beautiful sunset hitting the lake at the bottom of the hill.  She framed it and gave it to my dad and he just thought that was one of the best gifts.  It sits on my mom’s desk in the living room and always reminds me of that visit, Sitting Here, Thinking of You .  Miss you, Daddy.
