I’ve set a goal for myself to send birthday cards to all of my family. That turns out to be about 3 cards a month. That should be a doable goal. But to send them I have to make them, and in a timely fashion so they can get out in the mail on time. This card is for one of my Sisters-in-law who’s birthday is in February.
I started with the lovely Happy Birthday to You free stamp set with a qualifying $50 or more purchase. I feel this is one of the prettiest cakes Stampin Up has ever designed. So many ways to make that cake with lots of color options.
I stamped the cake image once on watercolor paper, and again on Petal Pink using versamark and embossed them with silver embossing powder. I fussy cut the flowers from the petal pink so they could be raised with dimensionals. Come February you will be able to purchase a coordinating die set for this stamp eliminating the need to fussy cut anything.
I stamped the sentiment on Seaside spray and embossed it with silver. One trick I used in fussy cutting the sentiment was to lay the stamp on the paper without an acrylic block and traced around the rubber lightly with a pencil. I used that as a guide to fussy cut the words. I know other demonstrators have used the paper backing from the stamp to do the tracing but I don’t keep those papers and find the stamp shape works just as well.
Another option, if you keep the red rubber surrounding the stamps in your stamp case, you can use that as an outline. Like this.
