Another Ornate Garden Sneak Peek

Demonstrators with Stampin Up have been able to order and play this month with a new suite of products called Ornate Garden. Customers will be able to order April 1, just next week if you are watching your calendar.  I made a cute card and video last week using this suite, you can see it here.  Today I have another Ornate Garden card, this time using the Ornate Style stamp set and the Ornate Layers dies.

I was totally inspired by Paula Dobson, another demo in New Zealand at www.stampinantics.blogspot.com.  You can see her stunning card HERE.   Paula colored her stamped image using a no-line technique.  What that means is she stamped it with a light shade, probably smoky slate, or gray granite if I had to guess, and then used blends to color it in. The result is beautiful so I tried to make my coloring like her’s.  Nope, it was lousy.  My second attempt was much better.

I gave up on the no line and stamped with tuxedo black ink.  I colored it in using all of these Stampin’ Blend markers.

I was ready to cut it out.  I could say I fussy cut it using my paper snips, but that would be a lie, I really used my Scan n cut machine. As I’m looking at my finished image I’m thinking the black looks a little stark, I know I’ll put gold embossing powder on it.  Good thing I had stamped the image with my Stamparatus to begin with, and because I had used my scan n cut I was able to reposition it to restamp.  Were I to do this again, I would stamp and emboss first before cutting it out.

Next steps were to figure out the rest of the card.  Paula had used Petal Pink and it was lovely  but I am a Pool Party girl so I opted for layers and layers of Pool Party  The card base is Pool Party, as is the stitched rectangle layer under the floral image.  Then a Gold Stitched Rectangle layer to really bring out that gold embossing,  Under that is acutally a piece of Whisper White cut with the largest of the Ornate Layer dies then colored with pool  party using a brayer.  Final touches are a gold embossed sentiment with some retired gold ribbon.

Thank you for visiting today.  I always appreciate your comments and answer all questions as soon as possible.  Until next time…

Happy Stamping
Lynn
