Happy Labor Day all. At least for those of you in the US. Even though it is technically a Holiday, Birthday cards are still in demand, and what’s better than a birthday card? A 3D Birthday card.
Our grandson, Christian is turning 5 this month and I wanted to make a really cool card that he just might admire more than the money inside. Haha! Who am I kidding? But I saw this card on Splitcoaststampers and knew it would be a perfect 3D birthday card for him.
I followed along with the directions in the video and written tutorial included in the link above. How cool is it that it folds flat to slide right into an envelope. I changed the paper, and sentiments to fit my needs. I had the most fun figuring out what to put on each cube. CJ is for Christian John and he is a big baseball fan and now plays T-ball.
Of course, the letters are from Playful Alphabet and the star is from Warm Wraps. I used the large Daisy punch to make the bat. I cut the bottom portion (the handle) from the daisy center. I have a 1/2″ circle punch that was just the right size for the ball. I used the negative of the circle to help me draw the stitch lines.
Wouldn’t this be a cute card for a Baby or even floral to celebrate a wedding or anniversary? 3D Birthday’s are just the beginning of what you could do with this design. Just resize the small pieces holding the sentiment in place as needed.
