Cottage Rose White Wash

Have you noticed the Cottage Rose Suite in the annual catalog? It is pretty amazing and while at first glance it may not look like it is versatile, trust me, it is. Today I have a sympathy card I created using the Cottage Rose large image and some fun coloring techniques.

To color this beautiful flower first I stamped the cottage rose image using Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Craft Paper and second pulled out my white craft ink refill and a blender pen. I had never tried using ink with a blender pen but I’m a fan now, the stiffer end of the blender pen makes for more control with the coloring.

Coloring Technique

I colored the flower portion of the image with the craft ink a couple of times, adding layers of color to make it more vibrant. Once the flower was complete I added some Evening Evergreen ink to the remaining white craft ink and used that to color the leaves. Lastly, I cropped the image with the coordinating die.

The card base is Sahara Sand with a piece of basic white randomly inked with the trio of flowers from the Cottage Rose stamp set using stamped off Soft Succulent ink, then cropped with the largest Deckled Rectangle Dies (my new fav). The next layer is a piece of Evening Evergreen cropped with another of the Deckled Rectangle dies and then embossed with the new Quatrefoil embossing folder. The sentiment comes from Quiet Meadow cropped with a stitched circle from Stylish Shapes.

I love this sentiment from Nature’s Harvest and think it works perfectly for a sympathy card. I stamped both the sentiment and the leaf using soft succulents.
