July is the month of watercolor so I decided to do some water coloring with this amazing bird from the new stamp /die bundle Perched in a Tree. There are dies that coordinate with this stamp set but I didn’t use any of them with my project today. That will have to be for a future post. Until then, let’s talk watercolor.
The Stamparatus came in really handy with this project as I wanted the bird to be perched on the branch but with red rubber stamps, I couldn’t see where I was stamping. With the Stamparatus I was able to line up the branch first, then flip the plate and line up the bird perfectly.

Watercolor tips
I experimented with various ways to stamp the images for watercoloring until I landed on Soft Suede Ink heat embossed with Clear embossing powder on a piece of fluid 100 watercolor paper. I watercolored the bird using Bermuda Bay, Pool party, and a very very light and watery amount of soft suede. The branch was watercolored with soft suede first then early espresso to darken and shade.
For the background of my watercolored project, I used a piece of Wonderful World Sale-a-Bration Designer Series Paper embossed with the new Leaf Fall 3D embossing Folder. I embossed a full 6×6 piece first then cut it down to the size I needed with the embossing where I wanted it. The sentiment from Perched in a Tree was stamped in Bermuda Bay ink on vellum then cropped with the 4th largest circle die from Stylish Shapes. A piece of Bermuda bay card stock
