Beautifully Happy Layered Stripes

How wonderful it is when a plan comes together. I wanted to use the Beautifully Happy stamp set one more time before it is gone forever from Sale-A-Bration, ending Feb 28, but I also wanted to use the Layered Stripes stamp from the mini catalog. The question was how to put them together.

Well using masking of course. I grabbed a 2-1/4 x 4 piece of white cardstock and covered it with post-it tape. I purchase my post-it tape in 1-inch width from Amazon, or an office supply store. (Note: I did first try masking sheets that SU offers but the adhesive stuck to my cardstock and made a bit of a mess, thus the use of post-it tape instead).

The Steps

Stamp the beautifully happy image on the post-it tape with memento then to keep it from smearing and getting ink on your fingers and your finished project, cover, and heat with clear embossing powder. Trust me, this is a worthwhile step. Cut out the image – loosely, not a true fussy cut. Just the outline of the image.

Mount the Layered Stripes stamp onto your Stamparatus. You could do this without one but it would be more difficult to get the stripes to be as dark as you want. Remove the cardstock from the back of your post-it tape and place it on a 5 x 3-3/4 piece of white cardstock. Mount this on your Stamparatus ready to stamp. Since you cannot use a magnet, add a bit of tape runner to your cardstock to hold it in place while stamping the layered stripes.

Ink the layered stripes with Pool Party and stamp away. I did mine 3 times to get the depth of color I wanted. Remove the post-it tape and what you have are the layered stripes around the edges, with a nice white space in the center for stamping your flower image. Stamp it with Shaded Spruce and fill in the flowers and leaves of Beautifully Happy with Mossy Meadow, Fresh Freesia, Calypso Coral, and a tiny bit of Pale Papaya for the center of the big flower.

The extra details

After mounting onto a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock, wrap Pool Party ribbon around the panels like wrapping a present. Tie a bow of Pale Papaya ribbon around the cross point as shown. Stamp the sentiment using Memento onto a piece of Fresh Freesia and punch a hole in the corner using the Label me Fancy punch. Tie it on with baker’s twine. Finish off your project with In-Color opal rounds or other embellishments.
